Dara Khailany Welcomes Chinese Scientific Delegation to Sulaymaniyah.
On 16 June 2026, Dara Khailany, Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) Leadership Council and Head of Foreign Relations Department, received a high-level delegation of professors, doctors, and scientific experts from universities in the People’s Republic of China during their visit to Sulaymaniyah aimed at strengthening scientific and academic relations.
The meeting was attended by Dr Muafaq Khalid, Assistant Head of the General Studies Centre, and Dr Omed Rafiq, Head of the Research Centre. Discussions focused on the importance of enhancing academic and scientific cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the People’s Republic of China.
Both sides highlighted the need to expand collaboration in higher education, scientific research, and the exchange of expertise and knowledge. The Chinese delegation was also encouraged to support efforts to secure more educational opportunities for students from the Kurdistan Region, particularly at master’s and doctoral levels.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue cooperation and to build stronger academic links, with the aim of advancing education and research and further developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and China.
