Latif Nerwayi: PUK's Strategy for the Election Proved to Be Successful

Latif Nerwayi, Head of the Media Board of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's Media and Awareness Bureau, stated at a press conference: "The PUK's electoral strategy proved to be successful because it effectively addressed all of the allegations leveled against it in the disputed areas." It is the only force that has secured seats in all four contested provinces." 

"They have been imposing accusations of October 16 and treason against us in Kirkuk for the past seven years," Nerwayisaid. They have been conducting psychological warfare against PUK cadres and the general population. The PUK, on the other hand, persisted and remained in Kirkuk and the disputed areas. Kirkuk residents rewarded the PUK with their votes, and the PUK successfully refuted all allegations. As a result, the PUK's strategy for the Iraqi provincial council elections was successful.`` 

"The PUK sought to reclaim control of Kirkuk to overthrow the existing autocratic authority." While the official result is still pending, the PUK emerged as the leading Kurdish faction in Kirkuk and the disputed areas, garnering the highest number of votes in those areas," he added. "At the same time, it is the only party that secured victories in Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala, and Salahaddin, prompting citizens throughout Kurdistan to warmly embrace and celebrate this victory." 

"We thank the Kurdistan Communist Party for their alliance in the Kirkuk provincial council elections, and we express our gratitude to the PUK media as well as all the media outlets and political parties that provided their support, contributing to the PUK's victory," Nerwayi added. Nonetheless, we express gratitude to independent political personalities and intellectuals who, in their speeches, urged people to vote for the PUK because they saw the righteousness of the PUK's policies." 

"We are dissatisfied with the fact that certain parties received a minimal number of votes and ignored the PUK's call for unity before the elections," he added. As a result, the PUK was victorious, and voters rewarded the PUK while punishing the others."
