Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received a senior Iraqi delegation led by Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassim Al-Araji, National Security Agency Chief Hamid Al-Shatri, Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Agency Chief Abdul Wahab Al-Saadi, and Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Brigadier Qais Al-Muhamadawi.
Several members of the PUK's Executive Board, Political Bureau, and a number of security and military officials attended the meeting, which discussed the latest security developments and the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, as well as the need to protect the country's sovereignty, unite efforts to protect the country's stability and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
President Bafel thanked Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, the guest delegation, and Iraqi and Kurdish parties and leaders for speaking out against this terrible and perilous development and urged the investigative committee to reveal the truth and motives behind this attack.
He also discussed the common responsibilities and national duties to protect the people and the nation, stating: "Our destiny depends on our unity and solidarity, and we must not allow people to act as guides for foreigners and endanger our national security."
Furthermore, President Bafel stated: "The incident at Sulaymaniyah Airport is unacceptable, and the PUK is being punished for its national stances." "We expected a Kurdish consensus and political parties to advance greater interests, but we never expected that the local security agencies would implement foreign conspiracies."
Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassim Al-Araji praised the security and stability in Sulaymaniyah, saying: "We came to Sulaymaniyah, that city known as the great heart of President Mam Jalal, and we were pleased that the conditions are safe and the incident did not affect the lives of citizens," adding: "We are proud of the consistent national policy of the PUK because, with the onset of problems in Iraq and the formation of the government, the PUK had a positive stance and played an important role in calming the situation."
He emphasized: "We strongly condemn this unfortunate incident and oppose any hostile action taken against our country and people."
