Head of PUK Relations Bureau meets with UK delegation

On Sunday, Amin Babasheikh, member of politburo and Head of PUK Relations Bureau, met with a delegation from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), which included Oliver Dixon, the head of the Iraq desk at the FCDO, and James Charlton, Head of the Political Team at the British Consulate-General in Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, several important axes were discussed, while the two sides stressed the strengthening of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UK based on protecting the common interests of both sides.

Then, the two sides discussed the security situation in the region and the threats of ISIS remnants, stressing the continuation of security and military cooperation between the Peshmerga forces and the international coalition against ISIS, and they appreciated the role of British forces in the international coalition.

In another part of the meeting, the latest political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region were discussed and the PUK's views and attitudes on all political issues in the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad were presented. 

Both sides pointed out the fact that all political issues such as the formation of the federal Iraqi government, the issue of the disputed areas, and financial entitlements and rights of the Kurdistan Region must be resolved through dialogue, in accordance with Iraq's constitution.
