The following is the full text of the statement:

"Today in Qalachwalan we met with the Commanders, General Commanders and Brigadiers of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces. In the meeting we discussed the latest developments and changes in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the steps taken to unite the Peshmerga forces and the security situation of the region. We referred to the new decisions and policies of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), after the party congress was held, and the great steps it has taken in dealing with the issues at hand at the regional level and with Baghdad; whilst considering the high interests of our nation.

We mentioned the issue of conflict between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government, emphasizing on the need to reach an agreement. For this purpose, we have held several important and productive meetings in Baghdad with the Iraqi political forces, parties, and the government to solve the ongoing issues within the framework of the constitution.

These efforts are to provide salaries for the civil servants of the Kurdistan Region, improve the lives and livelihoods of citizens, and solve the problems of Kirkuk and the disputed territories. We talked about the security situation in the Kurdistan Region and expressed that we are against any internal fighting. We condemn any side that wants to endanger the peace and stability of Kurdistan. We will not participate in or support a fight in which Kurdish blood is shed by Kurds.

In another part of the meeting, we discussed the reform process and unification of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces, and reaffirmed the readiness of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to unite the Peshmerga forces and to have a well-trained and armed national force that protects the land and the people of Kurdistan. I extended my appreciation to the military commanders who have taken steps to do so with regards to this process.

We reiterated the need for continuation of joint operations between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces to destroy ISIS sleeper cells in areas that have a security vacuum. We discussed the upcoming Iraqi elections and considered one Kurdish voice important for the strength of the Kurdish position in Baghdad, calling the formation of the Kurdistan Coalition list between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Goran movement a great achievement to defend the Kurdish people’s rights and national unity. We hope that all Kurdish parties will come together under the umbrella of this list to represent the Kurds and strengthen the position of the Kurdistan Region."
