DPM Talabani Asks Turkish President to Lift Ban on Sulaymaniyah Airport

The Kurdistan Region's Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani requested the Turkish President to review the decision on closing the Turkish airspace to Sulaymaniyah International Airport.

In a statement published on his official Facebook page, DPM Talabani stated: "I attended the meeting between the Kurdistan Region's Presidency and government and the Turkish President along with his delegation."

"During the meeting, I requested Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to reconsider the decision of closing Turkish airspace to Sulaymaniyah International Airport," he added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Baghdad on April 22, 2024, and was greeted by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani. Subsequently, the Turkish President held a meeting with Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid to discuss matters pertaining to trade and economic growth. Following this, the Turkish President traveled to Erbil and engaged in discussions with high-ranking officials from the Kurdistan Region.
