The exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar on Monday set a new record in the currency markets of the Kurdistan Region
Shwan Hadi, a currency trader in the Sulaymaniyah market, told PUKmedia that the exchange rate of 100 US dollars against the Iraqi dinar reached 150,150 dinars today, after it was 150 thousand and 50 dinars on Sunday.
Hadi attributed the reason to the increasing demand for its purchase by companies, traders and citizens, noting that the price hike has nothing to do with the Iraqi Central Bank.
The prices of the rest of the currencies against the Iraqi dinar are as follows:
100 euros = 181,950 dinars.
100 pounds = 210,000 dinars.
100 Turkish liras = 17.500 dinars.
100 thousand Iranian toman = 6.600 dinars.
In late 2020, Iraq's Central Bank has devalued the national currency against the US dollar by almost 20 percent to address financial crisis brought by low oil prices which resulted in a huge hike in dollar prices.
