An informed source on Saturday confirmed that Iraq is examining options to deal with the repeated Turkish attacks on the areas of the Kurdistan Region.

"Iraq is examining options to respond to the repeated Turkish attacks on the Kurdistan Region, noting that the official silence at the present time will not last long in a sensitive sovereign file," the source, who declined to be named, told PUKmedia.

He added, "Iraq has previously announced repeatedly its rejection of the Turkish attacks on areas within the Kurdistan Region, and has several times delivered strongly worded protest notes to the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad."

On Thursday The Iraqi President tweeted, "the abuse of sovereignty, violence, and displacement of civilians from their homes, cutting down forest trees in Harur, Bativa and other border areas in the Kurdistan Region, are inhumane practices and an environmental crime that must not be overlooked."

Today, Turkish warplanes targeted the Makhmur camp, killing 3 civilians and wounding others, as part of operations that began on April 23, in the Kurdistan Region.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had threatened a few days ago to target the Makhmur camp, which has been hosting refugees for more than 20 years and is located 180 km south of the Turkish border.
