Within the framework of the activities held in Sulaymaniyah as part of the anniversary of the founding of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), on Saturday morning, the Office of Development of Ideas and Awareness held a debate under the title of 'Women's cause in the viewpoint of thought and politics'.
The participants discussed women's role in the political arena in four different parts, i.e. in the Kurdistan Region, and the position of women in political, media, and ideological projects were also discussed.
The topics of the debate were discussed with the participation of 11 women in the leading political fields inside the Kurdistan Region and Europe.
The PUK was founded on June 1, 1975, by the late President Mam Jalal Talabani and his comrades. His son Bafel Talabani and nephew Lahur Sheikh Jangi were elected as co-presidents at the PUK's 4th Congress in late 2019.
The PUK holds different activities in the week of its founding anniversary and today's activity was discussing women's cause as women are an important part of the PUK and one of the slogans of the founding anniversary this year is "Women and girls of the PUK are the pioneers of the Kurdish political and social feminist struggle and the wealth of reviving democracy".
