Rojava- The International Coalition stressed the importance of partnering with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to prevent the return of the terrorist organization ISIS.
A statement by the leadership of Operation Inherent Resolve led by the coalition against ISIS terrorists said on Wednesday: "The partnership the @Coalition shares with the #SDF remains critical to the success of our combined mission to ensure we #DefeatDaesh."
"Our continued collaboration is essential to enable local security and prevent an ISIS resurgence."
In 2019, the Kurdish-led SDF, who is currently controlling Rojava (North and East Syria), along with the international coalition forces have captured the last stronghold of ISIS, the eastern riverside hamlet of Baghouz , in Syria and marked the end of a cross-border "caliphate" declared in 2014 across swaths of Iraq and Syria.
However the terrorist organization still has active members who continue to carryout insurgency tactics in attempts to regain their strength.
According to a report by the United Nations, ISIS retains some 10,000 active fighters in both Syria and Iraq.
