New batch of Chinese Sinopharm anti-covid vaccine arrives in Iraq

The Iraqi Minister of Health and Environment, Hassan Al-Tamimi, announced on Sunday that the second batch of the Chinese Sinopharm anti-coronavirus vaccine has arrived in Iraq.

 

In a statement, Al-Tamimi said that the second batch of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, which 200,000 doses, was received this evening, as a donation from the Chinese side to the Iraqi people.

 

He added: "With this, 3 vaccines have so far been present and approved at the vaccination outlets, which are Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Pfizer, and the Ministry of Health confirms that these vaccines are safe and effective and from solid global origins and under the supervision of the World Health Organization."

 

Al-Tamimi called on all citizens to speed up registration through the electronic application or direct review of the nearest vaccination outlet to take doses in order to preserve their health and safety.

 

The Iraqi Minister of Health and Environment, Hassan Al-Tamimi, announced on Sunday morning, that the first batch of the American Pfizer anti-coronavirus vaccine have arrived in Iraq.

 

Al-Tamimi said in a statement that 50 thousand doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Iraq, which is the first batch of the vaccine and will be available beginning from Monday through 50 outlets in Baghdad and all provinces.

 

Iraq has previously received 336,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 50,000 of the Chinese-made Sinopharm and the vaccination campaign was launched through 700 outlets across the country. 

 

Iraq expects to receive 21 million and a half doses of vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm this month.

 

So far, Iraq has recorded over 925,000 coronavirus cases with more than 814,000 recoveries and over 14,700 deaths from the virus.
