The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found the body of an Iraqi refugee in Hawl Camp, east of Syria’s Hasakah, on Sunday.
“26-year-old Iraqi refugee Suleiman Khalif Raja was killed by several gunshots to the head, chest, and stomach by unknown persons on Sunday,” a security source from Hawl Camp told North Press.
“Our forces found the body after a report from the first section of the camp at about 5 o’clock, and we started investigating to identify the perpetrator,” the source added.
This is the second assassination within a single day, where a Syrian refugee was killed on Sunday morning by unknown individuals.
On February 5, a 30-year-old Iraqi refugee Farouk Khalaf Hardan was killed by gunshots to the head fired by unknown persons.
Hawl camp consists of nine sections, eight of which are for Iraqi refugees and Syrian IDPs, and another for families of ISIS members.
At the beginning of this year, the camp witnessed an increase in the number of killings that included displaced Syrians and Iraqi refugees.
In January, the camp recorded the highest murder toll, of 20 against Iraqi refugees, Syrian IDPs, and Asayish members.
