Five members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were killed in an attack by the ISIS terrorist organization in Al-Dur district, east of Saladin Governorate.

A security source told PUKmedia on Saturday that ISIS attacked the headquarters of the 22nd Brigade of the PMF near Al-Dur district, east of Saladin Governorate, with light and medium weapons.

He added that the attack resulted in the death of five fighters from the Popular Mobilization Forces, including a Major General.

ISIS occupied vast swaths of land in Iraq and Syria in 2014 declaring a caliphate in both countries and committing mass massacres and the most heinous crimes against the humanity.

Although Iraq announced military victory over the terrorists in 2017, but remnants of them are to this date carrying out insurgency attacks in attempts to regain their strength.

Last Thursday, a twin suicidal terrorist bombing targeted a popular market in Tayaran (Aviation) Square in the Bab al-Sharqi neighborhood in central Baghdad, which is often crowded, killing 32 and wounding 110 innocent citizens.
