Nizar was a Kurdish resident of Qamishlo city in western Kurdistan (northeastern Syria) who is currently living in Erbil and works as a salesman in search of his livelihood, but despite the harsh life he has, he plays the saz instrument sitting on his cart on one of the streets of the city.

Nizar Qamishlo, as he liked to call himself, plays authentic Kurdish melodies that reflect his condition, as he tells PUKmedia, where he spoke to us while he was sitting on his old cart which he uses to earn his livelihood in the morning, and he plays music in the afternoon for passers-by with his saz tied to a large speaker for his audience to hear his performance.

he says that he had been playing saz for over 15 years when he was in Qamishlo, he told: "Today in the region we live as displaced people from our region, where we have suffered a lot, and because my playing is a reflection of my condition, it is sad, but it is authentic Kurdish melodies."

Nizar sells the instrument after he is finished with his performance and brings a new one to use every day.

Thousands of Syrians were displaced after ISIS terrorist organization occupied vast swaths of land in Syria and Iraq in 2014 committing mass massacres and the most heinous crimes against the humanity. A large number of the displaced persons found refuge in the Kurdistan Region.
