Kurdistan VP, Dutch Military Adviser Discuss Security and Regional Developments

Kurdistan Region Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa and Dutch Military Advise Karen van Giersbergen.

Kurdistan Region Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa received Karen van Giersbergen, the Dutch Military Adviser to the Global Coalition against ISIS, on Monday.

The meeting focused on the political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East and their implications for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The two sides also discussed the importance of maintaining and expanding bilateral relations and strengthening joint cooperation in the military and security fields.

They reviewed the continuing threat posed by ISIS and the role of the Global Coalition in supporting the Peshmerga forces, including ongoing military assistance and the implementation of the Peshmerga reform process.
