Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi on Thursday strongly condemned the drone attack that breached the airspace of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement posted on X, al-Zaidi said: “In line with our constitutional responsibility, we strongly condemn the drone attack that violated the airspace of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region. We will not tolerate these criminal acts, which are aimed at undermining the stability of our people and disrupting their determined efforts to build the state and strengthen social peace.”

He added that the government had instructed the relevant security agencies and military formations, in coordination with the security forces in the Kurdistan Region, to take all necessary measures to prevent similar attacks from occurring in the future.

Al-Zaidi also stressed that every effort would be made to pursue and hold accountable those responsible for attempting to threaten the security and stability of Iraqi society, wherever they may be.
