Kurdistan Region Deputy PM Meets Albanian Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Kurdistan Region Deputy PM Qubad Talabani and Albanian PM Edi Rama.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with  Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during an official visit to Albania at the invitation of the Albanian Prime Minister.

The meeting, held on Monday, 6 July 2026, was attended by Dara Rashid, the Kurdistan Region's Minister of Planning, Zhwan Sabir, Chairman of the Kurdistan Region's Tourism Board, and Daban Shadala, Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Relations.

The two sides discussed ways to create coordination, in order to create strong cooperation in trade, tourism and the exchange of expertise between the Kurdistan Region and Albania.

Talabani praised the Albanian government's achievements in reform, renewal and strengthening of institutions. He also commended its efforts to strengthen infrastructure, develop the tourism sector and integrate technology into public services, noting that these measures had created a favourable environment for investment and economic growth.

Both sides stressed the importance of joint work to create cooperation between the private sectors of the Kurdistan Region and Albania, particularly in the fields of tourism and investment.
