On the sidelines of the 2nd Delphi Economic Forum in Sulaymaniyah, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, held talks with a high-level Finnish business delegation led by Aki Kauppinen, Charge d'Affaires of the Finnish Embassy in Baghdad.

The discussions focused primarily on strengthening bilateral and economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and Finland. Both parties agreed that hosting the Delphi International Forum in Sulaymaniyah represents a significant opportunity to identify strategic investment avenues and foster closer ties between their respective private sectors.

During the exchange, Talabani highlighted the KRG’s ongoing commitment to diversifying its economic model and revenue streams.

"Our objective is to accelerate economic development across the region by drawing upon the proven expertise and successful models of friendly nations, most notably Finland," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

A key agenda item during the meeting was Finland’s advanced transport infrastructure. Recognising the relevance of this expertise to local development goals, Talabani requested the Finnish government’s assistance in transferring this experience to the Kurdistan Region and the city of Sulaymaniyah.
