The Sixth Scientific Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development has commenced at the University of Technology in Baghdad, with the participation of Halo Askari, Minister of Environment and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, alongside a distinguished group of academics and experts.
The conference aims to harness scientific research to address environmental challenges and support sustainable development in Iraq.
During his opening remarks at the conference, Dr Askari underscored the importance of institutional integration between the two ministries, stressing that Iraqi universities represent a key pillar in developing practical scientific solutions. He noted that the government is pursuing clear policies to reduce emissions and align with international environmental standards, thereby enhancing the global competitiveness of academic institutions.
