President Amedi met with Judge Faiq Zaidan in Baghdad.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi met on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, in Baghdad with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the overall situation in the country and stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and preserving the independence of the judiciary.

President Amedi reaffirmed the Presidency’s commitment to supporting the judicial institution and enabling it to carry out its constitutional responsibilities in a manner that protects citizens’ rights and strengthens the foundations of justice. He also praised the role of the judiciary in safeguarding the constitutional system and reinforcing public confidence in state institutions.

The President further underlined the importance of cooperation among political forces and prioritising the national interest in order to complete the formation of the current government and enable it to implement its programme and priorities related to public services, living conditions, and the protection of Iraq’s sovereignty.

For his part, Judge Faiq Zaidan stated that the Supreme Judicial Council carries out its responsibilities independently and in accordance with the Constitution and the law. He also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to ensuring justice, protecting rights and freedoms, and safeguarding the interests of citizens.
