President Amedi Highlights Cabinet Completion and Strengthening International Cooperation

Iraqi President’s meeting.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received a delegation from the Iraqi Foundation Coalition parliamentary bloc, led by MP Alaa Al-Haidari, at the Salam Palace in Baghdad on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan parliamentary bloc, Harem Kamal Agha, along with a number of other MPs. Discussions focused on the current political situation in Iraq and the importance of promoting stability and cooperation among national political forces.

The participants also addressed the need to complete the formation of the cabinet and to coordinate efforts in tackling service-related challenges and responding to the needs of Iraqi citizens. President Amedi stressed the importance of collective action and placing the national interest above all other considerations in order to support development and improve public services across the country.

Members of the delegation reaffirmed their support for the President’s efforts to strengthen dialogue and understanding among political parties and to accelerate solutions to issues affecting the daily lives of Iraqis, in a manner that serves the public interest and reinforces stability.

President Amedi Receives Italian Ambassador to Iraq

President Amedi met with the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Niccolò Fontana, at the Salam Palace in Baghdad on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, where they discussed bilateral relations and opportunities to expand cooperation across a range of sectors.

During the meeting, the President highlighted the importance of drawing upon successful international experiences and expertise to support development and reconstruction projects. He also praised the strong relations between Iraq and Italy and the positive progress achieved in recent years.

For his part, Ambassador Fontana reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Iraq and further enhancing ties between the two friendly countries in ways that serve their mutual interests. He also commended Iraq’s ongoing efforts to reinforce security and stability and to advance the country’s development agenda.
