PUK bloc leader Harem Kamal Agha's meeting with the Kurdish farmers.
Harim Kamal Agha, leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament, met with a delegation of farmers and agricultural workers from the Kurdistan Region on Monday, 9 February 2026, in the presence of several bloc members.
The meeting, held at the PUK parliamentary bloc headquarters in the Iraqi parliament, addressed the reasons behind the delay in payments owed to farmers in the Kurdistan Region by the Iraqi federal government for their wheat harvest.
Kamal Agha stressed that the delay in disbursing these payments has a detrimental effect on production levels for the upcoming season, which could adversely affect the national economy. He reaffirmed that the PUK is committed to defending the rights and entitlements of all segments of the Kurdish people.
He further announced that the PUK bloc will establish a committee, comprising bloc members alongside farmers’ representatives, to meet with the federal Ministers of Trade and Finance starting Tuesday, 10 February 2026, with the aim of accelerating the disbursement of these payments.
