Qubad Talabani: A Transparent Election Will Benefit Kurdistan Region's Experience

Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with a senior delegation from the Czech foreign ministry to discuss ways to improve ties between the two nations and problems involving Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region.

The Czech Ambassador to Iraq, the Czech Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, and the Deputy Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's Foreign Relations Department all attended the meeting in Erbil on Thursday. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Czech government, in particular for sending experts and supporting the higher education and health sectors.

Qubad Talabani deemed it necessary for the Czech Republic to play a larger role in the economic revitalization of the region, and he asked for more assistance in preserving water resources and combating the threats of climate change.

Relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad were also discussed during the meeting. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister stated: "We must swiftly settle any issues through dialogue and negotiations that impede the implementation of the budget law."

Regarding the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, Talabani reiterated his consistent position that political parties should act in the best interests of the region and defend the region's constitutional rights in Baghdad with unity and a single voice.

During the meeting, the upcoming parliamentary elections were also discussed. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of holding the elections on the date designated and stated that a fair and transparent election process would benefit the region's experience.
