Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister, stated in his meeting with the South Korean Consul General that the Kurds and the Kurdistan Region are currently facing grave threats and difficulties, and that if the Kurds do not unite, they will not be able to withstand the risks.

During a meeting in Erbil on Wednesday to mark the end of his responsibilities as Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Talabani thanked Cho Kijoung for his significant contribution to advancing and strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and South Korea. He also praised their government for playing an important and active role in Kurdistan's and Iraq's rehabilitation following Iraq's liberation.

Mr. Kijoung, for his part, expressed gratitude to Talabani and his office for their ongoing assistance throughout his work in the Kurdistan Region.

The discussion also included threats to the Kurdistan Region as well as issues between Baghdad and the region. The Deputy Prime Minister stated in this regard that the Kurdistan Region and Kurds in general face significant pressure and danger from a variety of sources. Given the current state of conflict between Kurdish political parties, it is difficult for Kurds to withstand these pressures and dangers.

"The only option for the Kurds and the Kurdistan Region in this difficult situation is to return to a prudent policy and quickly resolve the Kurds' internal problems," Talabani added. "This will enable us to face threats and dangers as a group." He warned that if the Kurds are divided, they will fail, and one day they will all look back and wonder why they squandered their last few chances and failed to solve their own problems.
