On Sunday, at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with Fahmi Burhan, Chairman of the General Board of Kurdistani Areas Outside the Kurdistan Region, and representatives of Kurdish and Turkmen farmers in Kirkuk.

The Iraqi president attended to the demands of Kirkuk's farmers and closely monitored their issues.

President Rashid urged the attendees to put the peace of Kirkuk and the region first, and assured them that their problem would be resolved in accordance with the constitution and Article 140.

Kurdish and Turkmen farmers in Kirkuk and other disputed territories between Erbil and Baghdad are occasionally attacked, and their lands are taken over by resettling Arabs who refuse to give up lands granted to them by Iraq's former Ba'ath regime. Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution was written primarily to settle the territorial dispute between Erbil and Baghdad. The former Iraqi Ba'ath regime made significant efforts to Arabize the people of Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Saladin, which resulted in these disagreements.
