The creation of a separate force is not in the interest of the people of the Kurdistan Region and is a threat to social peace in the region. The coalition calls for a unified national force, and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) supports their demand.

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with the US and British Consuls and said: "The US has played a significant role in the reform of the Peshmerga forces, and no circumstances should affect the reform process."

The formation of illegal forces is unacceptable
"The creation of separate forces for certain individuals and parties is illegal and falls within the framework of the creation of militia forces," Osman Sedari, deputy chairman of the Peshmerga Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, told PUKMEDIA.

Sedari stated, "The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is putting the region in danger by creating these forces and ignoring the demands of the coalition, which wants a strong, unified force in the Kurdistan Region and which the PUK supports."

He added, "According to the law, all forces in the Kurdistan Region must be under the structure of the Peshmerga Ministry."

He further said: "However, what is currently occurring is related to political disputes, and side forces are being created against another party, which is undoubtedly not in the interest of the people and the political process in the Kurdistan Region and will have a negative impact on the international experience of the Kurdistan Region."
Side forces have political motivations
Lieutenant Ahmad Latif, the spokesperson of the 70th Peshmerga Forces, told PUKMEDIA: "The 70th Forces have made great efforts in the past and present to unite the Peshmerga forces within the Peshmerga Ministry, but what is happening now is led by political motives and does not fall within the framework of the Peshmerga Ministry."

He continued, "The PUK President, Bafel Jalal Talabani, has continuously ordered us, the 70th forces, to expedite the unity of the forces and that there should be no force outside the official force."

"Any force that is not in the Peshmerga Ministry is illegal, and it is a violation and a threat to the general security of the Kurdistan Region, and we as the 70th Forces will not recognize and reject it; it is also against the position of the coalition," Latif said.
The support of the coalition is requested
The different parties of the Kurdistan Region are supporting a unified national force, rejecting illegal forces, and supporting the demands of the coalition.

"We support the demand of the coalition to reorganize the Peshmerga forces, and any force must be within the framework of the Peshmerga Ministry," Amanj Jamal, head of the office of the Kurdistan Socialist Party, told PUKMEDIA.

"Any force that is not under the authority of the Peshmerga Ministry is illegal, and we are not with it." "Even we, as a party with a long history, have Peshmergas, and we have demanded to be placed on the joint brigades of the Peshmerga Ministry because our Peshmergas have been crucial to the Kurdish struggle and have even taken part in the fight against terrorism and suffered martyrdom," said Jamal.

The PUK and other parties support the unification of the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region, and they will exert all of their efforts to have a unified national force in the region. This is what the coalition forces are demanding, and any force that is not within the framework of the Ministry of Peshmerga is considered to be illegal and a militia force, which is on the rise in the Kurdistan Region and is being developed by a political party that is creating these kinds of forces for its own purposes.
