PUK gets an additional ministry in the new Iraqi cabinet

The new Iraqi cabinet includes an additional ministry for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

The Iraqi parliament voted on Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amedi to be the new environment minister on Saturday, December 2, 2022. The Ministry of Environment is the second ministry assigned to PUK after the Ministry of Justice.

The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Environment are two of the four ministries that the Kurds have been entitled to have in the new Iraqi cabinet; the other two have been handed to the Kurdistan Democratic Party which are the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Reconstruction.

“PUK has every right to get two of the four ministries that are assigned to Kurds”, according to Dr. Soran Jamal Tahir, the PUK's spokesman, who previously spoke to PUKMEDIA.
