NATO Mission in Iraq condemns attack on Erbil

NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) condemned the missile attack that targeted the city of Erbil last night.

"NATO Mission Iraq stands with our Iraqi counterparts in deploring the aggression in Erbil. The security of Iraq is important for all regional nations and we are committed to ensuring a sustainable security environment in this glorious country" the mission said in a tweet on Twitter.

The attack injured two people, in addition to causing significant material damage, according to the governor of Erbil.

The governor of Erbil Omed Khoshnaw said in a press statement that 12 missiles fell on the city of Erbil, pointing out that the security situation in Erbil is stable, and that the security authorities are investigating the terrorist attack.

The governor of Erbil also indicated that the missile attack targeted the US consulate in Erbil.

The attack sparked wide condemnations from local and international authorities as well. 

Both UK and Germany condemned the attack along with The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq. Read more
