Dana Gas Temporarily Halts Operations at Khor Mor

Dana Gas Company has temporarily halted operations at the Khor Mor gas field in the Kurdistan Region following a drone attack that resulted in the deaths of four individuals, as announced on Monday.
On April 26th, a drone strike on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah province resulted in the deaths of four Yemeni workers and injuries to eight more.
Dana Gas has officially stated that an attack took place on Friday, April 26. The attack involved a drone targeting a storage tank at the Khor Mor facilities of Pearl Petroleum Company. As a result, four contractor employees lost their lives in the attack, while eight others had minor injuries.
Dana Gas also stated: "Although there was very minor damage to the facilities, for the safety of all our staff and the facilities, we have temporarily suspended production and instituted specific procedural changes."
The attack has received widespread condemnation both regionally and globally, leading to demands for fast action and cooperation with government officials to strengthen security protocols at the Khor Mor field. Dana Gas also stated that it was actively collaborating with government officials to enhance security and defence measures in order to resume production at the Khor Mor gas field.
The attack receives widespread condemnationThe drone strike on the Khor Mor Gas field in Chamchamal has provoked a significant international and diplomatic response. The incident has been explicitly condemned by the US State Department, the US Embassy, and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq. They are advocating for a comprehensive investigation to be conducted and for the individuals responsible to be held accountable through proper legal actions.
The attack is being investigatedTwo delegations from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq are conducting a visit to the Kormor gas field in order to investigate and evaluate the extent of the damage resulting from the terrorist attack. The mayor of Chamchamal says: "The incident remains unattributed, and investigations are now underway."
Ramak Ramadan, the Mayor of Chamchamal District, stated in an interview with PUKMEDIA: "A joint delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government's ministries of Natural Resources and Electricity will visit the scene and prepare their report, while a separate delegation from the Iraqi government will also visit to investigate the same matter."
"The objective of the KRG delegation is to provide reassurance to the employees and companies in the field, as well as to assist in determining the duration of the halt in gas production and the appropriate timing for its resumption," he said.
The Dana Gas Company operates the Khor Mor gas field in the Qadir Karam subdistrict, which was established in 2007. It provides 67% of the electricity for the Kurdistan Region by delivering gas to the power plants located at Chamchamal and Erbil.
