For the first time, woman receives major position at Slemani Sports Club

For the first time in the history of the Slemani Sports Club, a woman received the post of VP of the club.

Nasik Baqir was born in 1978. She was only 12 years old when she joined Slemani Olympics Club and after that the city's sports club. She then joined the Handball team to become one of the few female athletes who played sports at that time. 

Baqir has participated in dozens of major championships in Kurdistan, Iraq, and even Arab countries. She has also played basketball, volleyball, and table tennis.

She has also finished her academic stages with distinction and has served as a lecturer at the College of Physical Education and Sports Science for 13 years at the University of Sulaymaniyah. Baqir has two joint scientific books that students of the Sports College benefit from.

After retiring from playing, Baqir heads towards the field of supervision and management in the Slemani Club and is an active member of the club’s administrative body. She has been chosen as the club's VP after she gained the majority of the members' votes.

The Slemani Sports Club was founded in 1956 and it is the first time for a woman to hold such a high position since the foundation of the club.

Baqir emphasized that she will spare no effort in developing all the teams of the Slemani club.
