Iraq to close airports during upcoming elections

The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday announced that the airports of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region will be closed for a period of 3 days during the Iraqi elections.

The authority said in a statement that they would like to inform travelers and all airlines operating in Iraq about the closure of all Iraqi airports (Baghdad - Najaf Al-Ashraf - Basra - Erbil - Sulaymaniyah) for a period of three days.

ICAA explained that the closure will be from 9:00 p.m. on October 9, 2021 until 6:00 a.m. on October 11, 2021.
