Political analyst: Iraq seeks friendly relations with international community

On Thursday, political analyst Wathiq al-Jabri stressed the importance of Iraq's participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, pointing out that Iraq is returning to its natural and strategic position.

Wathiq Al-Jabri told PUKmedia, "the presence of Iraq represented by the Iraqi President, Dr. Barham Salih, in New York, is very important, considering Iraq one of the influential countries in the regional and global arenas," explaining that "after defeating ISIS, and with diplomatic efforts, Iraq was able during to return to its strategic position and was able at the Baghdad summit to bring the views of the countries of the region closer."

"Iraq seeks to have close relations with the international community," he added noting that "that Iraq has a key role in solving many problems in the region, including security and water problems.

He stressed that the meetings of the Iraqi President, Dr. Barham Salih, with other Presidents on the sidelines of the meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations will result in agreements that benefit the country and the region.

President Salih on Sunday left Iraq for the United States of America to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, where he is scheduled to deliver Iraq's speech.
