Defense Minister: Federal forces, Peshmerga made great sacrifices to liberate Mosul

On Saturday, Defense Minister Juma Inad confirmed that the international coalition and friendly countries had played a major role in the liberation of Mosul.

 

Inad stated on the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Mosul: "Dear Iraqi people, heroes in our valiant armed forces with all the different formations, today the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the beloved city of Mosul from the clutches of evil and dark ISIS terrorist forces."

 

"We are celebrating this anniversary today. We must remember the greatest national and heroic feats in the contemporary history of our country, which were written by the heroes in our armed forces from the army, the counter-terrorism apparatus, the Federal Police, the Rapid Response Division, the Peshmerga forces, the popular mobilization, and the tribal mobilization, during their battles to liberate the city of Mosul from the grip of The terrorist gangs of ISIS, after being controlled by these gangs for a period of three years, which they wreaked destruction in this ancient city," He added.

 

Inad continued: "On this occasion, I extend my praises and blessings to the Iraqi people, to the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, to our rational religious authority, to the heroes of the armed forces of all kinds and formations and the rest of the forces supporting them in the liberation operations, and to the international coalition forces and all friendly countries for their great support and constructive cooperation to ensure Iraq's success in liberating Mosul."

 

"I stand today in honor and gratitude to our devoted martyrs who sacrificed souls for the freedom of their country and the liberation of their people, and I pray to God Almighty to cover their pure souls in the vastness of his gardens. I also extend my gratitude to all the injured heroes for their sacrifices for the sake of the homeland, praying to God Almighty to grant them recovery and health. Every year, Iraq and its people and the sons of dear Mosul are safe, secure, and peaceful, as long as you are in God's care and protection." Inad stated.

 

The Iraqi city of Mosul was finally liberated in July, 2017 after 3 years on continued battles with ISIS terrorists. The Iraqi army and local forces were the key forces entering the city, with the coalition forces’ air support and the support of the Peshmerga from the north and east.
