Iraq's Ministry of Oil has announced a series of measures to mitigate the impact of the suspension of oil exports through the country's southern ports amid the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry said it is working to increase export capacity through alternative routes and ensure the continued stability of the oil sector.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Oil, reviewed by PUKMEDIA, Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair al-Abadi chaired a meeting of the ministry's crisis cell on Saturday, 25 July 2026. The meeting brought together senior ministry officials and directors general to assess the latest developments affecting the oil sector and discuss measures to safeguard state revenues while advancing strategic national projects.
The statement said participants also reviewed the supply of petroleum products and agreed on measures to ensure their continued availability and meet domestic demand under the current exceptional circumstances.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring developments and taking all necessary steps to maintain stable oil supplies and strengthen the sector's resilience in the face of ongoing challenges.
