Early this Monday morning, 13 July 2026, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi departed from the capital, Baghdad, for an official visit to the United States, leading a high-level government and economic delegation.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and address critical mutual interests. The Iraqi delegation is scheduled to discuss a range of shared dossiers with American officials, focusing primarily on pressing political and security issues. Discussions will also centre on developing robust cooperation in the economic and investment sectors to foster regional stability and growth.

Reflecting the comprehensive nature of the talks, the Prime Minister is accompanied by a prominent delegation of senior officials, including:

-The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Oil, Electricity, and Trade.

-The Governor of the Central Bank and the National Security Advisor.

-A number of Members of Parliament, advisors, and senior state officials.

-Harem Kamal Agha, Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament and Chairman of the parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee.
