Shipping Activity in Strait of Hormuz Drops Sharply, Bloomberg Reports

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz slowed to almost a standstill on Thursday, according to the latest vessel-tracking data published by Bloomberg.

The sharp decline in maritime traffic comes amid heightened military and security tensions across the region.

Bloomberg reported that the only significant vessel movements were largely confined to the Iranian-controlled shipping lane on the northern side of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, the remaining maritime traffic is concentrated along the closely monitored northern route, while activity through the southern Omani shipping lane has fallen to exceptionally low levels as many vessels have diverted their routes over growing security concerns.
