Qubad Talabani Visits St Joseph Chaldean Church in Ankawa.

On Tuesday, 16 June 2026, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, visited St Joseph Chaldean Church in Ankawa, Erbil, where he was received by Patriarch Mar Paulos III Nona, Head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and worldwide, along with several Christian clergy.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Patriarch Mar Paulos III Nona on his new responsibilities, wishing him every success in his role, and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s full readiness to provide all necessary support.

He also highlighted the long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence among the different religious communities in Kurdistan, stressing the importance of religious leaders working together at this stage to strengthen and further embed the spirit of brotherhood and harmony that has endured for centuries in the region and remains a shared source of pride.
