Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, has officially launched the Raparin Regional Development Agency during a ceremony held in the Raparin administration on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

The event was attended by the consul generals of the United Kingdom, France, and Armenia in the Kurdistan Region.

In his speech, Talabani said that, following extensive research and consultations with local experts, academic institutions, and international partners—particularly the British Government—the project to establish the Raparin Regional Development Agency had been developed.

He said the agency would serve as an “umbrella” framework bringing together the private sector, public institutions, universities and academic centres, civil society, and all segments of society to actively participate in the development of the Raparin administration.

Talabani added that the agency functions as a research centre and a new model for regional governance aimed at addressing development and investment challenges across various sectors. He said it would help implement innovative ideas and position the region as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investment.

The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to international partners, particularly the British Government, for their support and involvement in the region’s development process. He further noted that this development model is expected to be introduced in other regions of the Kurdistan Region in the near future.
