Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Abdul Rahman Ali, Director General of the General Directorate of Dams and Water Reservoirs, alongside dam directors and staff from the directorate.

During the meeting held on Wednesday (6 May 2026) in Erbil, Talabani praised the directorate’s work, expressing satisfaction that a number of major and minor dam projects for water storage had been completed during the tenure of his cabinet.

The Deputy Prime Minister called for the development of a scientific strategy to prepare for drought conditions and low rainfall, and also requested a plan to enhance dams as tourist destinations. He reaffirmed his readiness to provide full support and coordination with the relevant authorities.
