Peshmerga Ministry: Six Peshmerga Martyred in Soran Attack

The Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs of the Kurdistan Region announced the martyrdom of six Peshmerga personnel in two separate missile attacks on Peshmerga units in Soran.
The Peshmerga Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, that two separate attacks targeted the headquarters of the 7th Infantry Division of Region 1 and a unit of the 5th Infantry Division of the Peshmerga forces in Soran with six ballistic missiles.
The statement pointed out that 6 Peshmerga personnel were martyred and 30 others were wounded.
"While we extend our deepest condolences to the families of our martyrs and wish a swift recovery to those injured, we once again call on all parties to keep the Kurdistan Region away from from conflict and disorder," the statement said.
The statement also called upon the Iraqi federal government, and urged the international community and all partners, not to remain silent in the face of these violations, and to take action to bring an end to such reckless acts of aggression.
