The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day by honouring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, as well as the victims of other tragedies, including the Anfal campaign against the Kurds and ISIS atrocities against all communities across Iraq.
“Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. We honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust as well as the victims of other tragedies including the Anfal campaign against the Kurds and ISIS brutality against all factions of the Iraqi people,” the Consulate said in a statement.
The statement also quoted U.S. President Donald Trump: “We cherish the eternal memories of all those whose lives were lost to the deadly scourge of anti-Semitism. Above all, we vow to never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust.”
The U.S. Consulate reaffirmed its commitment to stand against hatred and to prevent future atrocities.
