The Presidency of the Republic of Iraq issued a statement today on the anniversary of Iraq’s victory over the ISIS terrorist organisation, underlining the importance of national unity and the consolidation of security and stability across the country.
The statement paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Iraqi people and the nation’s armed forces, including the army, police, Popular Mobilisation Forces, Peshmerga, tribal fighters, and all who responded to the call of the nation and the fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority to defend freedom and dignity and liberate Iraq from the brutal terrorist onslaught.
“On this occasion, we reaffirm the necessity of national unity, consolidating security and stability, thwarting any attempt to undermine the safety of our citizens, strengthening the capabilities of our security forces, and fostering a spirit of peaceful coexistence in gratitude for the sacrifices of our noble people,” the statement read.
The Presidency also offered prayers for the martyrs of Iraq, whose sacrifices have ensured the country’s liberation and whose memory will remain etched in the hearts of all Iraqis.
