A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi Parliament met with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani in Baghdad on Saturday evening, 19 July 2025.
The meeting focused on key issues, particularly recent understandings between the Iraqi federal and Kurdistan regional governments aimed at resolving long-standing disputes over oil and the salaries of public sector employees in the Kurdistan Region.
Speaking to PUKMEDIA, Dr Narmin Maruf, a PUK MP, said the meeting "emphasised the importance of dialogue and direct engagement as essential tools for overcoming crises, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and operating within the framework of Iraq’s laws and permanent constitution."
She added that the delegation had presented a number of demands related to the rights of citizens across various areas of the Kurdistan Region. "The Prime Minister was receptive to these concerns and expressed a serious commitment to addressing them," she noted.
