The Iraqi parliament has reiterated its backing for the government's actions and initiatives aimed at countering the breach of Iraq’s airspace sovereignty, as well as its diplomatic efforts on both regional and international fronts.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Iraqi parliament declared: “Under Articles 59 (Second) and 109 of the Constitution, and in accordance with the principle of safeguarding Iraq’s unity, its people, and its territorial sovereignty, the Iraqi parliament resolved—during its extraordinary session on 17 June 2025—to express the solidarity of the Iraqi people with the Iranian people.”
The statement went on to affirm that the parliament had “unequivocally rejected the violation of Iraqi airspace and its use for launching attacks against neighbouring countries. It reaffirmed support for the government’s actions in response to such violations, as well as its diplomatic endeavours at the regional and international levels.”
Furthermore, the Iraqi parliament resolved during the same session to reinforce national unity in the face of any regional or international consequences, according to the statement.
