PUK VP Rafaat Abdullah.
On Monday, 28 April 2025, Rafaat Abdullah, Vice President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), convened a meeting at the Organisation Bureau headquarters in Sulaymaniyah with the heads of all PUK organisational centres.
The meeting focused on the implementation of the project to reorganise all PUK institutions and was attended by members of the PUK Political Bureau, Sarkawt Zaki and Shwan Qadir.
Abdullah underlined the recommendations issued by the PUK Political Bureau and Leadership Council. Addressing the heads of the organisational centres, he stated: “In accordance with these recommendations, the reorganisation of all PUK institutions will be completed.”
Adopting a contemporary PUK perspective, Abdullah outlined the objectives of the reorganisation process, emphasising the need to adapt to evolving circumstances. “The new situation requires us to adapt and take on new responsibilities,” he remarked.
Another segment of the meeting was dedicated to preparations for the forthcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections. In this context, Abdullah stressed the critical importance of revitalising the party’s organisations, asserting: “We must strengthen the PUK’s engagement with all segments of society more than ever before. We must operate from the top down, knocking on doors and demonstrating the PUK’s unity and deep integration with the people.”
In closing, the heads of the organisational centres reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating efforts among themselves and their respective organisations to ensure the full implementation of all decisions and recommendations.
