Due to the efforts of Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Sulaymaniyah Governorate has secured the top position in the Kurdistan Region for investment projects across various sectors.
Qubad Talabani Supports Investment
Qubad Talabani stated on his Facebook page that, according to statistics from the past three years, Sulaymaniyah has ranked first in Iraq in the investment sector. He further remarked, "We have ambitious dreams and robust plans to develop infrastructure, and we will exert every effort to support investment, confronting anyone who attempts to obstruct investors."
Most of the Projects Were Launched in 2023
According to information gathered by PUKMEDIA concerning investment projects in Sulaymaniyah and their costs, licenses have been granted for 370 projects in Sulaymaniyah Governorate from 2004 to 2023. Qubad Talabani's Efforts Played a Key Role in Advancing Investment
In this context, Aziz Saeed Rashid, Director-General of Investment in Sulaymaniyah, told PUKMEDIA: “The growth in investment projects in Sulaymaniyah Governorate is a result of the efforts of Qubad Talabani. Last year, he met with most of the general managers in Sulaymaniyah and made it clear that procedures obstructing investors’ work would no longer be tolerated. Instead, investors should be provided with facilities in line with the law and available resources.”
He added: “As a result of the facilities provided to investors, approximately 20,000 job opportunities have been created in Sulaymaniyah, with 75% of the companies that completed the projects being local firms.”
According to the statistics obtained by PUKMEDIA from the General Directorate of Investment in Sulaymaniyah, the projects completed over the past two years have significantly impacted the economic infrastructure in Sulaymaniyah. In 2022, the governorate ranked first in Iraq, completing 39 projects, and it maintained this lead in 2023, with the number of completed projects rising to 53.
