President Bafel: We Will Correct Governance Course Via Elections

PUK Kurdistan France Iraq Elections

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Yann Braem, Consul General of France in the Kurdistan Region.

They discussed the general situation in the Kurdistan Region and coordination between the political forces and parties in order to maintain stability in the region.

They also discussed the elections in the Kurdistan Region, where President Bafel stated: "The state of governance in the Kurdistan Region needs to be reviewed and corrected. The government has not been able to respond to the demands of the people and achieve the expected goals."

"Hence, this election will result in major changes and the region will progress towards a crucial milestone, namely the creation of inclusive governance, without favouring any specific party or political party." he added.

President Bafel: We will strengthen economic infrastructure of our region

President Bafel Jalal Talabani of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Futoshi Matsumoto, the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting emphasised the need of fostering relationships and enhancing economic and trade coordination while safeguarding key interests.

President Bafel highlighted the favourable conditions available to investors in the Kurdistan Region and Sulaymaniyah for investing their capital. He expressed his commitment to facilitating all necessary measures to enhance the economic infrastructure of the region. 

He also hoped for Japan to assume a more significant and proactive role in this regard, by encouraging their companies and investors to expand their operations.

The two leaders also deliberated on the advancement of cultural collaboration between the Kurdistan Region and Japan, particularly focusing on Sulaymaniyah, the capital of culture.
