PUK Kurdistan KRG Elections

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) reiterates its major and explicit stance on correcting the course of governance and altering the balance of power in Kurdistan. At the PUK Leadership Council's meeting on September 2, 2024, PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani assured the Kurdish people that they will ensure the policy of correcting the course, restoring the balance of power, and establishing a robust government a tangible reality.

At his meeting with Andrew Beasley, British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, President Bafel stated: "Our objective is to create a fair and service-oriented system of governance that safeguards the rights of citizens. This is everyone's aspiration, and any form of discrimination in service provision and authoritarianism in management must be ended."

We will correct the  course of governance in a democratic process

Khidr Mustafa, a member of the PUK Leadership Council, told PUKMEDIA: "The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has deviated from its course in this cabinet and the PUK is endeavouring to correct the course of governance through a democratic process such as elections."

"The restoration of power balance in the Kurdistan Region is the most influential element that can correct the existing governance course. This can only be achieved by empowering the PUK, ensuring the provision of optimal services to the people," Mustafa stated.

"The PUK has chosen the frontline and the battleground of the people to serve and aims to serve the citizens based on that principle," he added.

Citizens will restore the balance of power to the Kurdistan Region

Shamal Wardi, deputy head of the PUK's Sorani headquarters, told PUKMEDIA: "The difference in services between the cities is obvious, and that has put the KRG on the path of discrimination. The PUK will endeavour to rectify this misguiding course in the future."

He added: "The PUK aims to have a fair and service-oriented cabinet that does not discriminate between the provinces. Therefore, it is important for the citizens to restore the balance of power to the Kurdistan Region and thereby correct the course of the government."

The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is fully prepared for the election and aims to rectify the poor governance in the Kurdistan Region by means of this democratic process and establish a service government.
