PUKMEDIA reveals the cost of the sixth round of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for June 10 of this year and are being conducted by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission.

Kurdistan parliamentary elections cost nearly 70 billion dinars
On Wednesday, IHEC spokeswoman Jumana Ghalai told PUKMEDIA that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections are funded by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, which contributed approximately 70 billion dinars.

"Prior to this, the Iraqi prime minister has directed the Ministry of Finance to fund the expenses of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, which are set to take place on June 10th of this year. Additionally, IHEC has completed all necessary logistical and financial arrangements," she added.
Four constituencies determine the 100 MPs in Kurdistan Parliament
The Federal Court of Iraq ordered a review of the quota seats and ruled that the electoral system should be altered to include four constituencies instead of one. However, the court dismissed the 11 quota seats in parliament.
The PUK is prepared for elections
Rizgar Haji Hama, the Election Bureau Supervisor of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), stated to PUKMEDIA: "The PUK has completed all necessary arrangements for the upcoming elections and will be running with independent lists in all four constituencies. President Bafel Jalal Talabani will oversee the electoral process in these constituencies."
More than 800,000 people will not be able to vote
The IHEC has reported that a total of 124,667 voters have registered as of the final day of voter registration.

A total of 42,140 voters who were born in 2006 will be participating in the election for the first time. There are 62,777 voters in Erbil, 36,920 in Sulaymaniyah, and 25,798 in Duhok. All of these voters have successfully entered their names in the biometric voting register.

The spokesperson of the IHEC also stated: "The Kurdistan Region has a total of 3,789,360 voters, out of whom over 2,900,000 have successfully registered in the biometric registration and are prepared to take part in the elections."

"Over 800,000 people are still unregistered, and they will not be able to vote in the next legislative elections," Ghalai said.
