Qubad Talabani: Kurdistan, Iraq Should Cooperate to Protect Sovereignty
Kurdistan 08:54 PM - 2024-01-16Qubad Talabani and Mark Stroh
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the
Kurdistan Region, met with U.S. Consul General Mark Stroh and discussed several
issues of mutual interest.
Mr. Stroh expressed his country's condolences
to the Kurdistan Region's government and citizens during a meeting in Erbil on
Tuesday following the attack on the city on Monday night.
In this context, Talabani stated that there is
no longer any justification for violating the sovereignty of the Kurdistan
Region and Iraq. "Attacks like this exacerbate tensions and endanger
regional stability," he added.
The Deputy Prime Minister condemned the
attack, saying: "Kurdistan's political forces must unite to put an end to
these attacks and violations."
He urged the two governments to work together
and take all necessary steps to preserve Iraqi and Kurdish sovereignty.
Talabani stated: "Any neighboring nation
with concerns should work to address them through dialogue and diplomacy rather
than going to war and bombing the Region's territory."
